No increase in pensions in benefit plan

Applicable only if you were employed by Capgemini before January 1, 2016:

We did not increase pensions as of January 1, 2024. According to the pension regulations, increasing pensions is only possible if there is inflation during the measurement period. According to the CBS, there was no price inflation in the Netherlands from September 2022 to September 2023. As a result, we could not increase pensions according to the regulations.

Status of Future Pension Act and our Pension Fund

In a previous newsletter, we mentioned that the Future of Pensions Act went into effect July 1, 2023. The newspapers are now full of it. This means that our pension fund is also preparing for the upcoming major overhaul of the system.

Where are we now?

It is a decision of the social partners (employer and Capgemini Works Council) what the new scheme will look like and which party will implement it. A consultation process in which some board members of the fund are present as observers.

The social partners face difficult choices in this regard. One of these is the consideration of how to honor the commitments to existing employees. To date, no definitive arrangement for the future has been reached. This leads to a delay in communicating to all participants what the future will look like. As soon as more is known, the social partners will communicate this to the active members and, via the fund, to the other members and pensioners.

So even for the fund, it is still a little unclear what future we have to prepare for. Therefore, we are pursuing several avenues to be ready in time for the transition anyway.

The fund has its own responsibility for the rights and capital accrued to date. In forming our judgment, we consider not only the interests of Capgemini's active employees, but also, on the contrary, the interests of former employees, both those who already enjoy their pensions and those who do not yet do so.

Once there is more clarity, we will notify you of the next steps.

Results risk preference study 2023

Earlier this year, (former) Capgemini Pension Fund members and pensioners participated in a pension survey. This is also called the risk preference survey.

The survey asked questions about the risk that can be taken with investing pension money. There were also questions about sustainable investing and satisfaction with the fund's services.

This year, for the first time in years, we are hosting a physical participant meeting. Because of the corona pandemic, the meeting was online in previous years. To enable as many participants as possible to attend this meeting, we are already letting you know the date of the meeting: Wednesday evening, May 29, 2024. More information will follow during April 2024.

Choices in managing capitals in premium plan narrowed

The "own distribution and savings" option in premium plans is disappearing. This is due to high costs and stricter regulations. Also, since January 1, 2024, it is no longer possible to choose to 'liquidate' part of the capital (option 'save'). Read more

Communication from employer Capgemini: network for retirees

Capgemini Netherlands would like to keep in touch with retired (former) colleagues. Possibilities to do this are still being considered, but thought might be given to being able to participate in selected events of the staff association Escape, receiving company updates and other things.

However, the Capgemini company does not have an up to date address file of retired employees. Privacy regulations do not allow the addresses registered with the pension fund to be shared with Capgemini because these addresses are not collected for this purpose.

To still be able to get in touch with retired employees, an opportunity has been created to share your information with the Capgemini company and periodically. You can do this on the following website: https://forms.office.com/e/x2Nd366RsZ

With this mailing list, Capgemini can then get to work organizing events where retirees can also play a good role.
