Review participants meeting
Thursday, May 29 was the first physical participants meeting after the corona period at the Capgemini office. The great interest was reflected in the many registrations and the high attendance. Retirees and active participants were interested in the new developments surrounding pensions. The topics “How has the fund developed?”, “What is the fund doing about Corporate Social Responsibility?”, “What are the future developments of the fund?” and “What can you do about your pension now?” were discussed. The presentation and all questions with answers can be found here. Several participants took the opportunity to speak to board members in person. Participants who did not have the opportunity to do so may interview at any time during the board's consultation hour.
Take advantage of tax benefits just like Thomas
27-year-old Thomas Janssen, Solution Manager ADM NL, likes to keep busy with his financial planning. Until recently, his retirement was not in his sights. That changed when, through his brother, who is a tax expert, he got the tip to calculate his pension space through the Tax Office's tool. This showed that he had a pension gap. That is why he would like to share his story.
"When it comes to financial planning, as a 27-year-old I'm mainly into stocks, bonds and deposits. I am also saving for a house and have yet to pay off my student debt. Since retirement was still far in the future for me, I wasn't concerned with it. That changed when my brother, who is a tax specialist, pointed out to me that I can realize tax benefits through the pension space. He referred to the IRS tool to calculate what my pension space is. After following the steps, it turned out that my pension space since 2017 (started at my first job) was already quite high. I then deposited this amount into a retirement account, which allowed me to deduct that amount from my annual income on my tax return. As a result, I got money back from the IRS.
It is important to realize, however, that the deposited money is tied up for 40 years (i.e., until I turn 67!)."
Take action
Everyone is different. Do your own research to see what suits you. You can't start looking into retirement early enough. That way you can avoid (nasty) surprises later in life!
Status of the Future Pension Act and our pension fund.
In a previous newsletter, we mentioned that the Future Pensions Act is effective July 1, 2023. This means that our pension fund is also preparing for the upcoming major overhaul of the system.

Choices in managing capital in premium scheme reduced
The 'own distribution and saving' option in the premium scheme is disappearing. This is due to high costs and stricter regulations. Also, since Jan. 1, 2024, it is no longer possible to choose to make part of the capital 'liquid' (option 'save'). Read more
Explanation of current pension scheme and options on 11 and 26 September 2024
We are organizing physical meetings at the end of this year. Here the current pension plan will be discussed and all the options around retirement will be discussed in more detail. To give as many participants as possible the opportunity to attend this meeting, we are already letting you know the dates of the meetings: Wednesday evening, September 11, and Thursday evening, September 26. More information will follow in the coming months. During these meetings, no advice will be given, but you can get informed about the (im)possibilities in the current regulation. If you are unable to attend you will find all relevant information on the Pension Fund site.
Understanding your pension with the Pension Sketch
Want to know what your financial situation will look like when you retire? Check it now with the Pension Sketch.
The Pensioenschets works simply. You can enter what you currently spend on, for example, fixed expenses, transportation and groceries. Then you can see whether you can maintain this way of living when you retire. This gives you insight into your pension.
Read more about the Pension Sketch and fill it in.
Report changes!
Are you moving in with your partner, but not married or in a registered partnership with that person in the Netherlands? Report this change to the Pension Fund. Only then is your partner registered and can claim the survivor's pension.
Are you 50 years old or older? Then already think about whether you want a fixed or variable pension.
If you opt for a variable pension then this must be actively communicated to the Pension Fund. Your personal situation and preferences are decisive for this choice. Make an appointment with a financial advisor to look at your personal situation by emailing bestuursondersteuning@pfcapgemini.nl.
